June 2010 Trip

Posted on July 1, 2010

Warm humid weather. All play and no work. What more can I ask for?

Spent a week on a Caribbean cruise, visiting Haiti, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, and Conzumel, Mexico. The weather was excellent the whole time. A bit of rain dropped while we were in Jamaica, but nothing major. It was nice actually, as it cooled us off after zip-lining through the forest. We visited the Tulum ruins while at Conzumel, and swam in the warm clear waters while at Haiti and Cayman Islands. The best part of our stop at Haiti is that we were on a private area that Royal Caribbean owns. We had full access to the beaches, and lunch was cooked for us on the beach.

I also joined the volleyball tournament on the cruise ship. Since the ship is so big, they had a full size basketball/volleyball court. It was 6 vs 6, and we had 3 teams. We beat both teams easily. I even blocked a girl. I am proud of that.

The second week was spent at Universal Studios Orlando and Disneyworld. Universal was ok, nothing much to brag about. Their attractions weren’t bad, but if you’ve been to Disney, it feels like Universal tried imitating but came up short. At Disneyworld, we stayed at the Grand Floridian again. We didn’t have as much time as before, but we did make it to all 4 parks. We also wanted to visit Blizzard Beach, but the weather wasn’t cooperating. We had thunderstorms every afternoon, which meant we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the water park all day. Even at our hotel resort pool, we had to leave the pool area as lightning approached. Nevertheless, we all had a good time.

So what more can I ask for? Another 2 weeks there next month.
